There's not much going on in my life other than the final haul that comes with the last three weeks of the semester. However, it is course registration time at CU right now, and with my registration time coming up this week, I thought it would be a good time to talk about it. In general, I want to take a lot of course at CU - I mean, sky's the limit... if it looks interesting, I want to try to fit it in. I'm interested in philosophy, psychology, photography and anything from Greek to graphic design.
However, it just so happens that with the fall 2010 semester, I won't really be choosing from that long list of courses that interest me - I'll be sticking to my major, minor, and CU's core requirements. Also, because it turned out two of the course I'll be taking are 4 credits each, it looks like I will only be taking four classes, instead of five, (for a total of 14 credits) which will be an interesting change from this semester, when I had 16.
Overall, assembling my schedule for the fall was really quite easy, more a matter of figuring out which recitation periods would work than which classes to take. I just hope everything I want is still open by the time I actually get to register. Furthermore, CU notably changed the registration system they used this semester, and I'm hoping it functions properly and easily when I get to sign up for classes.
What should be interesting about the fall is that I either have long classes or short classes - I have two 3+ hour film courses in the afternoons, but then I don't have any hour-and-fifteen minute lectures, I ended up all with 50-minute lectures/50-minute recitations. Perhaps this will end up feeling more like high school.
Those are just a few of my musings on registration for the upcoming term. If you have any questions about CU's registration process, feel free to ask. If you're a student, have you registered yet? Did you get the classes you wanted?
Cheers :)

I used to love making schedules for semesters. I used to always try a bunch of different combos. When I finally finished my schedule and had registered I would always make a pretty color coded schedule.
I hope you get all your classes!! That was always the most frustrating part for me.
I discovered your blog a few months ago while searching for information on Arnett Hall. My daughter is now where you were a year ago, finishing high school and preparing for university life. I have a few questions I hope you can answer regarding your experience at CU.
I am assuming that the Kittredge Honors program is the Honors RAP at Arnett Hall? I am curious to know if you found the program worthwhile and rewarding. Also, having lived solo in a room all your life, how easy/difficult was the adjustment to living with a roommate? Do you work while going to school? What are your thoughts about holding down a job while being a student full time?
I am enjoying reading about your journey this year, and hope you will keep it up as the semester comes to a close.
@KimmyBlair, So far it looks like I got the classes I need. Thankfully, because I came in with credits from high school, I got a nice and early registration date!

@CalPolyAlum I'm so glad my blog is of use to you! If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
The Kittredge Honors Program is the RAP at Arnett Hall, yes. Overall, I found the program quite rewarding. Of all the dorm/RAP options on campus, I am glad I chose to live in Arnett. It was great to be with like-minded students who are interested in academics, and the Arnett building is REALLY nice compared to some of the other dorms. I loved having a class right in my dorm, and having a small class where I really got to know my professor was invaluable.
The adjustment was a bit difficult, of course, but nothing I couldn't handle. This semester, I was rather lucky with the job I got, as I am projecting films for one of my film classes - meaning I don't have any extra hours outside of classes. Honestly, I personally would have found it difficult to hold down a job with 15-16 credits, but I know that many students do have jobs, so I'm sure it's possible.
If I can help you more, by writing a blog entry to address more questions, or getting in touch via email, let me know. Good luck to your daughter!
